Week 23 (Week 6 in Michigan)

Elder Christiansen and I Yet another week has gone by! This week has actually been quite fun, with exchanges, funny videos, and zone conference! On Wednesday the Elders from the Caro area drove down to our area for tradeoffs (exchanges). Unlike last time that we had tradeoffs, we did our studies together, all five of us. It was fun to have input from so many of us rather than just two, and we ended up addressing some things that had been troubling me. It was a huge destresser and was definitely an answer to some of my prayers. Later after getting lunch and eating at a park just down the street from our apartment, we decided we wanted to make a video. We walked around and crossed a bridge, when the other Elders thought of making a gospel video themed after Monty Python. I've actually never seen the movie, but I agreed to give it a shot nonetheless. We walked back to our apartment, grabbed a couple things, and met up with Elder Huntsman and Elder Earle down the street to film the v

My companion and I visiting Port Austin. Hello again everyone! Another week has gone by, and it has been a pretty good week all around. At the beginning of the week our investigator Karen told us that she wasn't sure she wanted to continue reading the Book of Mormon, but we convinced her to keep praying about it, and set up another meeting with her in a couple of days to talk more!  Later in the week we also found 2 new people to teach, one of which lives just around the corner from our apartment, named Jeremy. He was getting ready to go to the beach with his kids, but we briefly talked with him and, apparently his mother used to meet with missionaries like us. We gave him a Book of Mormon and got his number. The second person is named Alan and he just so happened to know Byron, a really cool member in our branch. Turns out that Alan is the organist for a couple of churches in the area, and was somewhat familiar with our church, but was interested to learn more. We actually found

Carrying my fancy new pen that my girlfriend Maggie got me! Hello everyone! I hope you have all had a good week this past week! I have to say, its crazy how quickly the time is passing here. I've now officially been here in Michigan for a month, and I also reached my 8-month mark of my mission, meaning I'm a third of the way through. Can you believe that?! I sure can't. It's reminded me of how short a mission really is, and how I should cherish these moments. This week started off really well! We met up with Karen, a self referral we had received last week. My companion was a little skeptical with how eager she seemed over the phone to meet with us, but I had a good feeling about her. When we got to a park over in Harbor Beach to meet, she pulled up and greeted us. It turns out that Karen loves the Bible, and said she considers herself a "seeker of truth". After she said that I just remember thinking "Karen, just you wait. We can help you find exactly

Yes, I feel very welcomed now. Another week has flown by! Seriously, this week has gone by super fast for me. At the start of our week Elder Christiansen and I said goodbye to Elder Palmer, who traveled up to Traverse City to train a "new" missionary, who was in Brazil for one week before being sent home. We miss him, but we can still video chat here and there to see how he is doing! It turns out his trainee didn't buy a phone before he came out, but luckily with our work moving into Phase 1, it's not all over the phone anymore. So technically, we still aren't supposed to purposefully go around talking to people, but we are allowed to go on walks and talk with anybody willing. My companion and I like to go on walks to get to know the town better and, of course, we talk with those we bump into. We managed to find 2 new people to teach while walking around, and had some other good conversations with people too. That was such a nice experience, to be able to talk wit
