Week 90 (Last week in Brazil!)

At the temple of São Paulo! What an incredible 2 years in the service of God it has been. I cannot believe that my mission is already coming to an end, and that I'll be leaving this beautiful country that I have come to love, that is, Brazil. However, I'm so thankful for the wonderful mission I have been able to serve here, as well as in Florida, and Michigan, and immensely grateful for all the amazing people I have met and come to love, who have taught me so much. Thank you all for your words of wisdom, Christ-like love, and incredible support during these last 2 years. I feel that I have been able to become more like the savior Jesus Christ in these last 2 years than during any other period of my life, and for that I am eternally grateful.  O Salvador Jesus Cristo I'm thankful as well that this week, I was able to pass one last time in the Temple of São Paulo with my amazing companions Elder Ceron and Elder Shepherd, as well as one of our senior couple missionaries, Eld

My last district council with the best district in the world! It's so crazy to believe that I only have one more week in the mission field, but it's becoming more and more real every day. This week was miraculous, and the following week I know will be insane and surreal! Tuesday morning our poor companion, Elder Ceron, woke up with a terrible headache, and ended up throwing up several times throughout the day. The next day, he still wasn't feeling well, so we went to the hospital to see what was up, and they gave him some medicine that fixed him right up. It's interesting to see how differently everyone handles sickness. I feel like as a child, even with high fevers and many other symptoms, I typically just took common medicine and waited it out. But luckily, on Wednesday, we were able to get back to work, and had a wonderful night.  Cleaning time! This week we also were preparing our friends Denise and Beatriz to be baptized on Sunday. After some great final lessons

Hat shenanigans What a short yet miraculous weekend it has been. I'll keep things short and sweet this week since last P-day was only 3 days ago, but trust me when I say that it was a very eventful 3 days. On Friday, we had an awesome district council, in Jardim Odete, and practiced our Christmas tune that we will be performing on December 7th, at our zone conference. It was a little rocky, but that's what practices are for right?! Saturday afternoon we took an uber down to Suzano to do 2 baptismal interviews interviews Sister Bird and Sister Carvalho. Julia and Rodrigo are two super sweet kids, with such a huge desire to be baptized, and so the next day on Sunday morning they entered into their first covenant with God, both baptized and confirmed as members of the Church of Jesus Christ. Say hello to our English speaking buddy! (Yes, she speaks very good English) After a long walk on Sunday afternoon, we had a powerful lesson with our friend Denise, in preparation for her ba

Elder Shepherd's first Pastel, a fried food very popular here in Brazil. Wow, what a crazy week and a half it has been! A lot has happened, so I'll try my best to sum it all up in a short email, but can you believe that I'll only be making 3 more of these e-mails after this one?? Crazy! Earlier last week, while visiting a few less active members in the Poá área, we received a  phone call from our AP's saying that we would be receiving a new American missionary, and would be serving as a trio for a time. I tell you what, I was very surprised, but also very excited to hear this news!! Thursday night, we prepared everything in our house and area for his arrival, and then waited Friday morning for the planned hour for him to arrive. Well, the missionaries arrived a little later than expected and ended up eating at the mission office, and we had district council planned in person... so basically as soon as the Elder showed up at our house in an Uber, we grabbed his stuff,

What a marvelous week it has been!! Near the beginning of the week we finally received permission to have district council meetings in person, and so we jumped on the opportunity and met in person as a district! One group of sisters arrived really late, and the others had lessons shortly after, so it ended up being very rushed and short, but informative, and SOO fun! Afterwards we took some silly pictures, and then went on our way. District council with the best district in the world! We also had the amazing opportunity to see our friend Gloria enter the waters of baptism on Saturday! We were a little unsure if it would work out on this day because we still had a lesson and baptismal interview to do, and Glória was very busy with her new job. However, we managed to work everything out and had a humble, but special, baptismal service. The next day was fast Sunday, so we couldn't have a reception after the baptism with refreshments, and very few people that we invited to participat
