Week 7
Unfortunately, this blog will have to be super quick and short, since I don't have much time, but for those of you who don't know I have been serving in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, while waiting for my visa in order to serve in Brazil.
This week has been crazy!!! My new companion and trainer is Elder Hansen, and he is super cool. He has a super strong testimony and has been super nice to me this first week.
My area in the mission is called Cypress Creek, and it is a full bike mission, meaning that we have to bike everywhere, and don't have our own car, like most other missionaries in our mission. It's actually been great riding around on bikes though!! Other than one time, on my first day, that I ran into a pole that was just around a corner, riding around each day wasn't too bad.
This week I was able to help teach several interested people that my companion was previously teaching and acquainted with, and one of which who is committed to be baptized in February who we gave a priesthood blessing to, as he is having surgery done this week due to medical issues. After the blessing ended, he felt hot in the area of his body that the problems had been arising. It was a super spiritual and powerful moment, to see the workings of priesthood power according to the faith of this man, Corlette.
This week we also had dinner with several awesome members, one of which gave my companion and I some very deep marriage counseling, and another that barely spoke any English, but made some delicious Haitian soup and rice. We also had dinner with Brother and Sister Brewer who had two super cute kids that ran out to greet us as we rode up on our bikes. It was adorable, especially when their boy went on and on about trains, and train stations, how he loves trains, especially "Thomas" the train.
I've been really enjoying the mission here in Florida, and I've realized especially just how blessed I am that I am serving at this time of year, as it is significantly cooler this time of year than it is in the summer. Nonetheless, it still gets pretty hot some days, but so far it has been very manageable.
I'm grateful for all the love and support I've received lately, and I promise to have a longer email next week with more detail about my experiences, as I should have more time next week, as well as my own phone on which I can email without having to drive down to a nearby church.
Take care everyone!
