Week 24 (Week 7 in Michigan)
Panda Express with some Elders |
Hello again everyone! I apologize if this email is a little shorter than usual, but I will try to include as much as I can!
This week we met two different pastors from two different churches and had some really nice talks with them. We also met a quiet, but super cool man, named Shane, on the street walking home. As we talked with him about the Book of Mormon, his countenance had a noticeable change, and by the end he gladly accepted a copy.
We also had an awesome Sunday devotional in which Cinco, the main writer for Despicable Me talked to us! He had a really cool life story, and is actually a member of our church. He served a mission years ago in Japan, and after having a child, decided against becoming a pop music artist, and settled for becoming a movie screen writer. Yeah, he is very talented and smart, and attended college years ago at Yale. He even wrote years ago a song about the Book of Mormon and sang it to us over Zoom. It was AWESOME!

At one point, we were walking to our church building to grab a baptismal jumpsuit for another pair of elders, and a truck drove up to us. Before we could say much they gave us 40 dollars and drove off. Now typically we aren't supposed to accept money as missionaries, unless from members for food specifically, but since they drive off before we could say anything, we accepted it with thanks. And let me tell you, it was a blessing, as we were pretty low on funds.
In our zone, we had also set a goal to find 50 new people to teach starting at the beginning of this month. With only a few days left we still had about 7 new people to find as a zone, and we made it! Now as a reward our mission president is going to give us his famous milkshake recipe.
I just received my driver privileges as well, so I have been driving this week! First time in about 9 months actually. I was a little nervous at first, but quickly I realized that it is still muscle memory.
Finally, in my studies I came across a talk by the apostle Elder Jeffrey R. Holland this week called "Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders Among You" . I was having a tough day and it really helped me to know that truly the sun always rises again, and no matter how hard things may be, as we put our faith in God and in Christ, he will bless us, and he "will not leave [us] comfortless".
I love you all, and I hope you have a wonderful week.
