Week 32 (Week 15 in Michigan)

Hello everyone!! This week has been CRAZY!!! It has been such a blast for many different reasons, and will remain probably one of my favorite memories of my mission.
At the start of this week, last Monday night, our Zone leaders announced the start of a zone-wide competition, to see which district could make the most videos in about 5 days. The Saginaw Elders immediately decided we wanted to blow the other district out of the water, but to do it discreetly. So we laid out a plan to make a ton of quality videos, and to upload them all on the last day, an hour before the deadline. We also decided to keep the zone leaders out of the loop (even though they are in our district) to make sure the other district wouldn't find out our plan.
The next day we thought up a TON of ideas, and made a goal to make 10 videos a day. And guess what, we made 10 awesome videos that day. And we kept it up for the next 5 days. I'm not going to lie, it was tiring. Not only thinking up ideas, but lines to say, cool camera angles and transitions, not to mention hours of editing and typing up captions, but it was well worth it! By the end of the week we managed to make 50 great videos. Some of course were better than others, but I think we had several gems. From a sick stop-motion video with risk figures, to a reversed video with our couch in the front yard, we made some awesome and unique videos that we are SO proud of.
Halloween night we dropped all 50 of our videos, and along with the other two companionships in our district, we managed to make about 57 videos in our district alone. Let's just say, the other district was very surprised... but I guess our zone page is covered content wise for a good 2 months. So keep an eye out for some of our videos on the Facebook page "Come unto Christ in Mid-Michigan".

More video fun! |
This week as well, we decided to have our district P-day on the 2nd, in Saginaw. We found a super cool German town there called Frankenmuth, with some sweet locations, buildings, restaurants, and even the world's largest Christmas store. We decided we would film one more video there for our new mission-wide competition to make the best Christmas video. We don't have everything laid out just yet, but we plan to do some filming in Frankenmuth, and then to record Elder Stone and I singing a cool arrangement of Silent Night. I'm super excited to see how it turns out!!!

This week has also been getting super cold here in Bad Axe. All week it has been in the 30's through the day, and 20's at night. And the past 2 days have been super windy, with just a little bit of snow that hasn't really stuck just yet. However, its seeming like this winter is going to be a rough one. Wish us luck with staying warm!!! Both my companion Elder Bradford and I are from Oregon and haven't really lived in frigid winters before, so it's going to be an adventure for us both. But nonetheless, I'm still a little excited to see snow!!
Not too much else happened this week, as our main focus was on making those videos, but we still managed to have some lessons with our friends and some members. Overall, it was a very productive week, and the hard work I think was completely worth it.
For Halloween, we didn't do too much, but we were able to hand out a little bit of candy to about 30 trick-or-treaters. We then spent the rest of the night re-watching all the videos we had made, and that the other district had made, and made some cookies!
Frankenmuth today ended up being super fun. The town is actually full of awesome attractions and shops, and it was just such a blast.

But yeah, this week was just the best! I pray that the rest of you have had a good week as well, and that things will continue to look up for you. Take care everyone! ~Elder Lightheart
