Week 46 (Week 29 and last week in Michigan)

Comp Pic!

Boy has it been a crazy week! From crazy winter storms, to filming all over our area, we had a super fun week, full of surprises!

Towards the beginning of the week we decided to make a video showcasing parts of our area, and introducing who we are as missionaries. We decided to implement a few cool transitions like "slap", "slide", and "jump" transitions. It was super fun to plan out, and also gave us a chance to drive around a lot. We drove to about 5 other towns in our area to film like 3 seconds each of a welcome sign, and also showcased a little of South Haven, including our church building. Unfortunately, we have been struggling to edit the footage, since neither of the editing apps we have can read the high quality footage that Elder Kofford took on his Go Pro. But hopefully, we can figure it out! However, I might be gone before we do... nonetheless, it was a super fun couple of days filming.

After we got back from our 2nd day of filming, it was snowing hard, and the winds picked up. A huge storm rolled in and carried over to the next day. Unlucky for us, we had to drive up in the storm to Grand Rapids to pick up a self-COVID tester for negative proof, to fly to Brazil. It took us about 20 minutes to get out of our driveway since our little Malibu has no 4 wheel drive and kept getting stuck, but eventually we managed. The ride up there was very terrifying, and our tail end was fish-tailing all over the place, but we made it there and back safely. And, of course, we stopped at Chick-Fil-A while we were there since there are only a few of them in Michigan.

We also had tradeoffs with the zone leaders this week before the storm, which was super fun! They came down to our area, and we got some sub sandwiches at a local joint. I got to talk with Elder Bonsignore quite a bit that day, which was cool since he lived in Eugene for about a year. He went to the UofO and knew a few people that I know. He also is into theatrics and had done a few productions in high school and college. We also enjoyed watching Elder Vandyken create a sort of Connect 4 game to be used for our zone goal this week. It was super cool! Basically, our goal this month is on finding new people to teach and each night, if we completed the daily task of finding, we could place 2 pieces on the connect 4 board. It was a little buggy at first, but turned out to be a hit in my opinion. Our district ended up winning on the 2nd day, so we did a rematch, which still hasn't quite ended.

We also had a small get together this week to celebrate Elder Vandyken's birthday. It was super fun, but the drive back was super sketchy. Snow was coming down hard, and the winds were crazy fast, so we had to drive super slow. But once again, we made it home safely.

The last few days I have been packing up my stuff to leave for Brazil, and it has felt so weird. I have realized just how much I am going to miss this mission and all these awesome missionaries. I feel like I have finally started to feel comfortable in this mission and have made some really good relationships. Nonetheless, I know that the Lord needs me in Brazil, and for that, I will happily go!
