Week 38 (Week 21 in Michigan)

Happy Holidays everyone!! This week in our mission we had what has been called our "sprint week". Our goal was to invite as many people to, learn about the gospel, read the Book of Mormon, and go to church, and also to invite our members to have lessons with us. It's always fun to have a mission-wide goal or focus to motivate us, and it made our week much more fun. It came to the second to last day of our week, Saturday, and we were hardly halfway to our goals. President Heap, our mission President in the morning over Zoom shared a clip from the movie "Remember the Titans" and invited us to make that Saturday a day to remember. Well in our district alone we decided to have a little competition with Ben and Jerry's as a prize. Elder Bradford and I worked really hard and so did the rest of our district. By the end of the day we all sent in our numbers, and we lost by 1 invite. Then later that night we received our mission-wide numbers, and we had doubled all of our invitations, and even quadrupled our invitations to be taught. We ended up meeting our goals which was just so awesome!

This week as well we got a ton of treats and candy from our members. It has gotten to the point that we are actually kindly telling people not to give us more treats... but we appreciate the thought nonetheless. We also made some cookies for 2 of our friends this week, and since the first batch didn't turn out too well we kept those for ourselves. I also decided finally to make some lasagna, using my mom's recipe, and it turned out really good!!! It was a little piece of home, and a tasty one at that.

Lasagna!!

This P-day we also decided to go to Frankenmuth, little German town in Michigan, again! It's got lots of cool stores, sights, and also Bronner's, the world's largest Christmas store. I didn't really buy anything because most everything is pretty expensive there. But they have some authentic German food, chocolate, and cheeses there. It's super cool!

Lately, I have been studying a lot about Jesus Christ, reading from "Jesus the Christ" by James Talmadge, as well as the New Testament. I've gotta tell you, it's been really amazing to study in detail all that Christ did, and was. How masterfully he taught his disciples, softly he cared for and loved, even the rejected and cast out, and powerfully he bore his testimony of God and his plan for his children. I am so very grateful for the Savior Jesus Christ, and all he went through so that I can live and thrive physically and spiritually. He truly "bore our sins and carried our sorrows". That much I can surely testify of.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, and a great week. Take care!
