Week 41 (Week 24 in Michigan)

Happy New Year everybody!!! Can you believe it's 2021?! It's going to take some getting used to, as I think we have all used the word "2020" more than we have ever used a year before. It's been so eventful after all.
This has been quite an amazing week! We invited our dear friend Stacy to be baptized a few days ago, and she accepted! We set a date for February 20th and we are so excited for her!!! It's very likely that I will be leaving Bad Axe in about a week at the end of this transfer, so I won't be there for the baptism, but its still super exciting!!
We also had a fun New Years Eve! We bought some Martinellis and played some Chess and Chinese Checkers. We also ate lots of chips and sweets (as we still have lots of sweets). It was a little uneventful of a New Years Eve, but that's totally okay. Immediately after New Years we have begun to set mission-wide and zone-wide goals, which is super exciting.
This P-day was super fun as well. We drove up to Saginaw and played some basketball with our district. I definitely enjoy being active much more than I used to be, and I think have a little better stamina. Which is a little weird since the pandemic has us cooped up in our apartment most of the time. We had a lot of fun playing B-ball. Elder Corry was on fire, of course, since he's 6'7. But most of the time he was on my time, which was fun haha. Afterwards, we played some PIG, the game where you shoot trick shots, and if you make it, the next person has to try and make it. If you can't make the same shot as the last person, you gain a letter, and when you get all 3 letters, you're out. Well. 2 times in a row Elder Corry swished a sick shot, and Elder Stone and I both made the same shot. It was one of those moments where you just had to be there, but lemme tell you, it was amazing! Afterwards we got some Culvers, which is apparently a huge burger joint that we don't have in Oregon. It was pretty dang good! And their concrete mixer shakes are delicious as well.

Elder Bradford and I also made another snowman this week after shoveling another few inches of snow off the sidewalks at our apartment complex. We have quite a few older folks living at these apartments, and they always thank us when we shovel the snow. They also complimented us on our snowman, and it just warms my heart. They are so sweet!

This Sunday, being the first Sunday of the month, was a day of fast for members of my church. Although we aren't required to fast, it is encouraged, and has certainly become much more special to me as a missionary. When I was in the MTC a year ago, we fasted for a couple of elders who had to go home early, due to various reasons. I don't know what happened to those elders, but I have no doubt that our simple sacrifice and prayer touched their lives somehow. This Sunday, a member of our branch asked us all to include him in our fast, as he hasn't seen his 2 kids in over 7 years. I have no doubt that our fast will bless him.
