Week 57 (Week 11 Back in Brazil!)

Beautiful view at the train station

Wow, what a week!! This was probably one of the more interesting weeks Elder Souza and I have had, so I definitely have a few things to share this time around!

Earlier this week we had a wonderful lesson with our friend Gabriel, in which we included another pair of missionaries that live a little closer to him. Unfortunately, we've had to pass him on to those elders, but he's in good hands! That's the one down side to covering the Mission Branch, is that anyone we start teaching in those areas, we eventually have to refer to other missionaries who live closer. But its still been great to have a few extra people to contact and teach.

On Thursday, we also had an interesting run in with bugs. Earlier in the day we started noticing big flies in the house, but just a few. Then they kept coming, and we knew something was up. We checked most of the house to try and see where they were coming from, but they seemed to come from every room. We were so confused, but then I found a few little capsules. They honestly looked like rat poop, so for a minute we thought we also had a rat problem, but I decided to open one up, and they were eggs... We were still very confused,  because we never saw any larva around the house, but there were eggs already. Mainly there were just a ton of eggs outside on our little washing and drying area. There were so many out there, oh my goodness. So we swept them all up together, and the rags and stuff they were under, and burned them all. But the next day, there were still more flies in the house! So we set out to deep clean the whole house, and found little eggs all over the house, under beds, desk, our stove, pantries. It was disgusting, but on the bright side, our apartment is pretty dang clean now! And now the flies are finally all gone.

Elder Souza also needed to go down to a specific store to try and get a new credit card for some reason, but the store was about an hour away. We didn't have much to do that day, so we decided to walk all the way down to this place. It ended up being in a really cool town in our area that we hadn't seen yet, with a gigantic mall. The store was inside the mall, but we also checked out a few extra along the way. One of the shops had a ton of Harry Potter stuff that Elder Souza was interested in. But then on the way out we just bought ice cream, and decided to take the metro home instead of walking.

Ice cream at the mall!

Elder Souza has also been training me with the responsibilities of a zone leader, so yesterday I called all the district leaders in our zone, and grabbed their numbers for the week, and passed them on to the APs. It was actually really fun to talk with them! It was certainly a big confidence booster.

Next week as well, we will be having an in-person zone conference, and I will be giving my first ever training! It won't be long, because we have only been given 15 minutes to speak, but I'm still excited! Also it has been confirmed that we will have a little barbecue after the meeting, and play some soccer, basketball, and card games. So I'm super excited!

But yeah, those were some of the highlights of the week. I hope you are all doing well! Take care!
