Week 58 (Week 12 Back in Brazil!)

On our way to Zone Conference!

Zone Conference!! By far the highlight of my week this time around was finally getting to meet as a zone in person for our conference. I'll admit, I was super nervous to give my first ever training in a zone conference, and certainly stressed more than I needed to, but the hard work and worry paid off. I ended up getting a lot of compliments afterwards, especially about an analogy I used about the growth of a butterfly. After about 4 hours of training, we all went outside to eat some burgers and fries, and play games. I wanted to play soccer with all the Brazilians, but there are no other American elders in my zone, and I didn't want to be the only American playing, so I chickened out. But I ended up playing some Uno and Phase 10 with a few elders and sisters, which was super fun. Afterwards, we took a big group photo, and returned to our areas, Elder Souza and I ensuring that every missionary went back to their area on time.

Unfortunately we also found out this week that our ward will not be returning to church in person for another 2 Sundays, also being Elder Souza's last Sunday in the mission. This is especially sad because we are waiting to enter the houses of members until we return to in-person church, so that has us cooped up for a little bit longer. But that aside, things are still going great here in Bras Cubas.

We had some wonderful lessons this week with our new friends Inês, Sandra, and Ana, and are looking forward to continue teaching them the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ! What's special about 2 of these new people, is that they are friends of a couple members in our ward, and typically member referrals are a lot better! So we are super excited to work with them.

At the zone conference we also got the flu vaccine, as did all the missionaries and unfortunately, Elder Souza got a little sick the next few days because of it. I felt minor symptoms the day after, but quickly recovered, but poor Elder Souza has been a little under the weather most of the week.

But overall it was a wonderful and blessed week, and I hope that it was the same for the rest of you!

Take care!
