Week 63 (Week 17 Back in Brazil!)
Me and my companion :). |
Hey everybody! Man, what a week! I would say only a few days this week were really eventful, and then the rest a little slow, but overall, it was a wonderful week!
On Wednesday we had our last zone conference with our mission president and his wife, President and Sister Miller. The conference was super fun, but man was it sad to hear the Millers' testimonies, and then to hug them both. I remember the short time I spent in this mission last year, saying goodbye as well at the São Paulo airport to the two, but this time they are the ones leaving. It was also my companion, Elder Costa's first zone conference, so his first and last with the Millers. We also traveled there and back on the metro with a bunch of other missionaries, which was fun, except that we were super squished in the train. But that's bound to happen at the hour we were returning home... rush hour.

Elder Costa's first zone conference! |
The day before zone conference Elder Costa and I were walking home from a lesson in person, and I wanted to be one step ahead and call to buy another 20-liter water jug, since I knew we were out at home. So I started pulling up their number while walking. And guess who walked straight into a protruding metal bar? This guy! It left a nice mark on my forehead and nose that looked pretty bad for the next couple days, just in time for zone conference. But now every time we walk past that corner, we joke about the incident. There's even two words spray painted now, on a concrete pole, across the street that says "Cuidado" and "Perigo", meaning Warning! Danger! Looks like someone saw me bang my head and decided to give everyone else the heads up!

We also started talking with this woman named Cleide this week, offering a prayer with her since she had been having really bad symptoms since she was tested positive for COVID a few weeks ago (don't worry, it was just a video call). And then later she started giving us names of friends and family that could use prayers too, and we were just amazed. Like dang, this lady's a missionary herself!
Elder Costa and I also made a little basic video singing a hymn this week to post for our investigators, and it actually got a few responses! Funny enough, one of the counselors in the stake presidency saw our video and asked us if he could post it on our stake Facebook page. But we have a goal now to try and sing a different hymn every week. I'm not sure if we will be able to every week, but we'll sure try.
Finally, on Sunday, Elder Bednar gave a devotional for all the youth in Brazil, and we tuned in for the broadcast, and boy was it good! One invitation that he gave I really loved, and would like to extend to you all. Think of a question or a gospel topic that you would like to learn more about. Then buy a fresh copy of the book of Mormon, and read it cover to cover, marking every passage about the subject, and then, at the end, review some of the passages, and record your thoughts and impressions, and place that paper in the Book of Mormon. Finally, label on the spine, "[Your Subject] Volume 1",and place it in a special place. Then repeat the process, either with the same subject, or another. And keep repeating the process, until like Elder Bednar, you have a whole shelf of copies of the Book of Mormon, dedicated to different questions, subjects and revelations.
But anyways, that was my week! I hope you all have a good one as well, filled with blessings from the Lord. Take care everybody!
