Week 65 (Week 19 Back in Brazil!)

Walking the streets of Mogi das Cruzes!

"For can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee... Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands" (1 Nephi 21:15-16).

Such an amazing scripture, isn't it? The Lord truly will never forget us, nor abandon us, even when we turn our back on him. I've been studying the Book of Mormon these last few weeks, looking specifically for scriptures about the atonement of Jesus Christ, and I was amazed once again by these words I've heard before, that Christ has engraven each of us upon the palms of his hands. What does this mean? That the atonement is personal, and truly infinite. If my name were truly engraven on the palms of His hands, how could he forget me, or desert me? Therefore, the Lord will not forget you, I promise you that much. If any of you out there have any doubt if the atonement of Jesus Christ applies for you. If you can truly be forgiven of your sins, or be changed for the better, study the Book of Mormon with your questions and doubts in mind, and I promise you will find peace, as I have.

This week I felt strongly I needed to begin with a more spiritual thought, so I hope you all enjoyed! But this week was certainly a wonderful one, and probably one of the busier weeks I've had here yet. We had 2 family home evenings this week with our friends Patricia and Dirce, and Dirce's 3 kids, which were absolutely wonderful! Patricia herself shared with us that she had never seen the kind of Christ-like love she has felt with us in any other place or church, and that she is very grateful to have met 2 young missionaries online, who then passed their information on to us. But all in all, I love this family so much, and am super excited to see their growth!

An amazing lesson with an even more amazing family.

On Friday, we also went down to Jundiapeba (our neighboring area), because the elders there had 2 young men preparing for baptism the following Sunday. I interviewed them both, and then we all had an amazing dinner, and took some fun pictures along a nearby trail. Let's just say, the view was stunning, and made for some great pictures. But the family is so wonderful, and I am so happy that they have decided to enter the covenant path!

Fun night with a family in Jundiapeba

This week, our mission president also gave us another area to take care of, which neighbors our current area, Brás Cubas, called Vila Lavina. We are super excited to work with this ward, and already took part in their church meetings this Sunday. They have quite a bit of youth, and young adults, so we are thinking of trying to schedule a few fun activities with them. Our Sunday ended up being super busy, but so fun as well.

Elder Costa and I also made pizza from scratch the other day which turned out super good. It ended up being a square pizza since we literally only have one oven pan in our entire apartment, but it turned out super good nonetheless.

Italian gestures with homemade pizza 😆

But I hope you all had a wonderful week, full of blessings! Until next time.
