Week 68 (Week 22 Back in Brazil!)

My new Ukelele!

"I see skies of blue, red roses too, I see them bloom, for me and you, and I think to myself, what a wonderful world". Why include the first few lines of a classic Louis Armstrong tune? A couple months ago a random member from another ward sent us his version of the song, singing it with the same hilarious crackly voice that Louis Armstrong has. And ever since, we have been singing this song together, laughing all the way. But I agree with Louis, that this certainly is a wonderful world.

This week we had the privilege to mark 2 of our wonderful friends, Mayara and Patricia, to be baptized next Sunday, the 18th of July. We are super excited to help them prepared to be baptized, and happy to have seen their progress along the way! After our last lesson with Mayara, we had a little family home evening and refreshments, and among the carrot cake and mango juice, they had cream cheese and bread. I did not realize how much I missed cream cheese until that day. Let's just say I searched high and low at the market to find some cream cheese after that night.

On Saturday, we also joined the elders in Jundiapeba to help with a service project, at the house of a couple who is preparing to be married and then baptized, and their 2 sons who were recently baptized. It was sweet to see the family again, since we were there about a month ago to interview their sons for their baptisms, but the project was super fun! We spent the morning digging holes, making cement and putting up cement fence posts surrounding the front yard of the family's house. One of the boys, Guiliherme, has big plans to move to the U.S. when he's a little older, and so I took down his phone number so we could keep in touch. But he's a really cool kid!

Service project!

We also got to meet our mission president and his wife this week! They are both actually really tall, but super nice. We had quick interviews with them, and President Kopeford as it turns out knows the two last mission presidents of my last mission, the Michigan Lansing mission. Small world right?
