Week 83 (Week 37 Back in Brazil!)

Indigenous souvenirs from Manaus

This week was incredible, what else can I say! We had a special devotional during the week with Elder Ulisses Soares of the quorum of the 12 apostles, in which all 36 missions in Brazil tuned in!! He almost made it to our mission, but decided rather to speak in the São Paulo West mission, so we watched through transmission. However, it was a very powerful talk and testimony that Elder Soares offered, which left very many of us in tears, including myself.

We also did a lot of walking and traveling this week, as we dedicated a few days to visiting and contacting members and investigators in Itaqua and Vila Virginia, two of the wards we take care of that are a little far from us. It was amazing to see during these couple of days how the Lord placed many people in our path as we went about doing good like Christ. We made quite a few new friends this week to begin teaching, and visited many less active members as well, inviting them to come to church and participate in a few activities.

Pizza with the bishop!

On one particular night while returning from a day of visiting members, we decided to stop and eat at "Habibs", a popular pizza restaurant here in Brasil, and ordered all you can eat Esfihas (which are basically like mini pizzas). We ate quite a bit, including sweet pizzas with chocolate and white chocolate as toppings. Let's just say, we ate our moneys worth... it may have been a slightly unpleasant walk home, but the feast we had was well worth it!

Habibs dinner!!

Today we also visited a garden/zoo reserve which was really neat!! There were tons of plants and fruits, as well as some chickens, turkeys, peacocks, ducks and turtles! We took some sweet photos, and left with our very own potted plants, mine being "Maracujá" a plant which grows a delicious fruit that we unfortunately do not have in the United States. But Maracujá juice has become my favorite juice here, which I will certainly miss when I return home. Then, we checked out a local park connected to the garden which was vast and beautiful! We are definitely jealous that this park isn't closer to where we live, but it still made for a nice P-day.

We found the batmobile!
